1defective shoes ,horrible customer service
By Esstk
Don't waste your money !First of all I liked these shoes. They had a very good system of changing soles. I've had Dexter shoes that did wear out, but were because of wear not poor quality and defective material. My family and I own 5 prs of Dexter and never had a problem until I bought the lousy SST8! However, after about 2 yrs they broke in half. 4 of my friends at the bowling alley had the same shoes and all 4 broke in half between 1 to 2 yrs.Largest online bowling outlets said they had complaints that the SST8 shoes that were breaking in half. Even the rep at Dexter told me they broke because of a flexibility defect in the sole, DEXTER SAID IT TO ME!!! They are very expensive shoes, you wear them 3 times a week maybe for about an hour, and they break in half, really? I sent pictures of the broken shoe and Dexter staff said they were worn out. What a lie, they didn't want to back their shoes because they knew their shoe was a piece of garbage! In 2 yrs, really? It's not like you were wearing them on the street everyday. My God, at the bowling alley only on the lanes.I would still be using them if they didn't break.I played tennis in college and never had a shoe breaking half, never, and I was hard on shoes. Dexter didn't even send me email with their findings. I had to send an email to see what was going on.Dexter's SST8 and their customer support is a pathetic joke and not very funny at a loss of $149.00 to me.Don't buy these shoes!!!

5Excellent Shoes
By GradyPhilpott
I had a cheaper pair of Dexters that were just not up to the task of bowling in multiple centers with varying conditions in each. They were wearing out anyway.I spent about $130 on a pair of Lind's with replaceable heel and sole disks on the sliding shoe that worked well for about 10 months, but by that time the Kevlar on the right shoe was severely damaged by my toe-drag.Finally, I decided to bite the bullet and buy what Dexter calls the "most advanced bowling shoe."These are some well built shoes and it does show. They are quite stylish and certainly give one a look of seriousness about the game. The toes of the shoes have a "leather toe drag protector..." that will "...stop slide sole peel back."The soles and heels can be removed and replaced and even reversed for both right-handers and left-handers. The shoes come with heavy-duty shoe protectors and extra soles and heels for various conditions. The first thing I noticed about these shoes was the increased stability they gave me on the approach because of the width of the soles, which are reminiscent of the thick, wide soles of the wing-tip shoes popular in my youth. The soles may be a little tricky in the beginning and you may slide or stick a bit more than you're used to with your old shoes, but after several games, they WILL settle in and of the ones included you will find one for every condition you are likely to encounter and you can buy others in case you need something in between. Now, I don't know whether or not to claim that these shoes will improve your game, but since I started wearing these enough to break them in properly, I'm bowling my highest scores ever and my average has increased about 10 pins.I've started calling these my "magic shoes," but the fact is that they do provide some advantage, but the bowler is still the key element in the game. I've bowled some embarrassing games wearing these shoes, too, but on the whole since I first started wearing them, I've broken my own high-game record twice, besides the increase in average. The bottom line is that these are quality shoes and they are comfortable and well-built and you will feel more stable in your approach and delivery as long as you do your part.
